The Regulations Worked - A win-win for industry and conservation on the Wisconsin River
October 13, 2026
7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Location: Virtual
This fall, WGF is partnering with River Alliance of Wisconsin on a webinar about the Wisconsin River. Featured speaker Bob Martini will tell his story of the cleanup of the "hardest working river in the nation," a conservation success story that unfolded over decades.
Central to this story is collaboration - industry leaders, conservationists, scientists, public officials, and community members working together. How did that happen? Just like a trip down the Wisconsin River, the journey was long and challenging. Yet, it taught us a lot along the way. How can we keep those lessons alive for the conservation challenges we face today? Join us to celebrate 54 years of the Clean Water Act and our collective work to build a clean water future.
About the speaker: Bob Martini served for 32 years with WDNR as Statewide River Protection Coordinator leading efforts to clean up the Wisconsin River and prevent acid rain damage in northern Wisconsin. He was also involved in groundwater quality and quantity work in the Central Sands, as well as dam removal and licensing for public benefit. Bob has received recognition for his efforts including WDNR’s Career Achievement Award, the Brogan Award, and a Career Achievement Award from the North American River Management Society. Bob has served on a dozen educational and environmental protection boards, including being a former board member of River Alliance of Wisconsin and current board member of Wisconsin's Green Fire.
