The Global Biodiversity Standard: Introduction to the standard and assessment methodology
August 22, 2023
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Location: Webinar
The Global Biodiversity Standard is a new, site-based certification methodology designed to assess the impacts of tree planting, reforestation, and sustainable agricultural initiatives on biodiversity, and to mentor practitioners to achieve better biodiversity outcomes. The methodology includes remote-sensing and ground surveys carried out by ‘GBS hubs’ with offices in Brazil, India, Kenya, Madagascar, Peru, and Uganda located in already well-established biodiversity and ecological restoration organisations. The development of the GBS is being developed by Botanic Gardens Conservation International, the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER), and other technical partners from CIFOR-ICRAF, Ecosia, IUCN Species Survival Commission, Plan Vivo, Reforest’Action, TRAFFIC, and 1t.org.
