Restoring native wild rice through non-native Phragmites management in Green Bay coastal wetlands

March 23, 2022

9:30 am – 10:30 am
Location: Online

The Green Bay west shore remains one of the last strongholds of Wisconsin’s coastal wetland habitat within the Lake Michigan basin. For nearly a decade, a multi-agency restoration partnership has been working toward large scale management of non-native Phragmites and reintroduction of Manoomin (wild rice) at west shore priority wetlands. This presentation will summarize efforts, successes, and lessons learned through managing aquatic plants in this historically impaired and naturally dynamic ecosystem.
