Prairies and Pollinators: An Ecological Restoration Tour
July 27, 2023 – July 28, 2023
Location: Eau Claire, WI
Ecological restoration of prairies in Wisconsin is not a simple chore, but an ongoing dedication to bring back native landscapes and habitats for our endemic plants, animals, and pollinators. Join Landmark Conservancy and UW-Madison Extension for a two-day tour of a variety of prairies taking root in the Chippewa Valley. This event is open to all ages and folks interested in the succession of prairie restoration and their pollinator counterparts. The two-day tour will visit 3 prairies that are at different stages in the restoration process. From remnant prairies to former agricultural fields, and a small-scale pollinator planting, we will see a little bit of everything! In the field, participants will learn from the land managers at the DNR, Landmark Conservancy, Beaver Creek Reserve, and the Lower Chippewa River Alliance. During the afternoon of day two, information on landowner programs specific to prairie management will be provided.
