CAFOs, or Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, need a lot of water — and so do we! CAFOs have expanded in Wisconsin — from under 50 CAFOs 30 years ago to more than 300 today. How does the more concentrated and industrialized dairy industry affect our surface and groundwater, and what is and is not being done throughout our state to regulate and enforce nutrient runoff and manure spills into our waterways?
