June 2026 Aquatic Plant Identification/Ecology Workshops

June 23, 2026 – June 25, 2026

Location: Woodruff, WI

This workshop is intended to education professionals that will be conducting aquatic plant-related work or non-professionals with an interest in learning more about aquatic plant identification and ecology. No prior experience with aquatic plants is necessary to attend.

Workshops are free, but you must bring your own lunch/beverage and provide your own lodging, if needed.

These workshops will be held at Kemp Natural Resources Station in Woodruff, WI on June 23, 24, and 25 from approximately 9am to 4pm. These are one day workshops. Rustic lodging in shared rooms is available in the lodge for $50/night. Participants must secure their own lodging.

The northern workshops include a general overview of aquatic plant ID, including hands-on instruction with 60+ species of aquatic plants representing the common species found throughout the state and some rare species. This includes native and non-native species. The workshop includes an on-the-water component on Lake Tomahawk. Please bring your own kayak/canoe/paddleboard and life jacket. There are a couple of canoes available at the station for those that do not have their own watercraft, and there is a small motorboat available that we can use if you are not comfortable in a kayak/canoe.

You must bring your own lunch and beverage. Those staying overnight should bring a bath towel, toiletries, and sleeping bag. Pillows, pillowcases, and fitted sheets are provided.
