June 2026 Aquatic Plant Identification/Ecology Workshops

June 9, 2026 – June 10, 2026


Location: Delafield, WI

This workshop is intended to education professionals that will be conducting aquatic plant-related work or non-professionals with an interest in learning more about aquatic plant identification and ecology. No prior experience with aquatic plants is necessary to attend. 

Workshops are free, but you must bring your own lunch/beverage and provide your own lodging, if needed. 

The June 9th and June 10th workshops will be held at the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Lapham Peak Hausmann Nature Center in Delafield. Lodging is not available on-site but plenty of nearby lodging options exist in Delafield. 

June 9th (10:00-2:00) will be a general overview of aquatic plant ID and ecology, including hands-on instruction with several dozen species of aquatic plants common to the southern counties of Wisconsin. There is no on-the-water component to this workshop. 

June 10th (9:00 - 12:00) will be a deep dive into the watermilfoils and pondweeds. Participants may bring photos or specimens of watermilfoils or pondweeds that they would like help identifying. There is no on-the-water component to this workshop.

You may register for one OR both of the southern workshops. You must bring your own lunch and beverage.
