Conservation Training
CBCW Training - Vilas County
June 26, 2026
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Location: St. Germain, WI
This Clean Boats, Clean Waters training is for those who have never performed watercraft inspections and conversed with boaters at the landing, but is also a refresher for those who would like a reminder and some practice before heading out to the landings this summer.
RSVP at least 1 day prior to the training HERE or to Cathy Higley at cahigl@vilascountywi.gov | 715-479-3738. To ensure quality training, in-person classes are limited to 20 attendees.
All in-person training will take place outside - please dress for the weather.
All Clean Boats Clean Waters trainings will cover:
- Overview of Clean Boats Clean Waters Program
- Where to find help with CBCW questions
- Looking the part
– CBCW gear
- Aquatic invasive species ID overview, verified locations, & ecology
- WI regulations relating to AIS
- How to do a CBCW inspection & teaching boater to do AIS prevention steps
- Filling out the CBCW datasheet and data management
- Handling violations
- Decontamination options
- Practice doing CBCW inspections with others in group or with willing boaters at the landing
In-person training is by far the best way to train to inspect boats! But if none of these dates work for your schedule, you may want to try an online on-demand CBCW training. We anticipate this option will be available by May 8, 2026 and would be valid for CBCW inspectors working in Vilas County only. Go to Vilas County’s CBCW webpage to learn more!
