Avoiding microaggressions and learning healthier communication practices

December 7, 2021

12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Location: Online

The term microaggression is used for commonplace verbal, behavioral or environmental slights, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative attitudes toward stigmatized or culturally marginalized groups. Join this workshop to learn how to steer clear of them, and to adopt healthier communication practices.

The training will begin by defining and exploring what words often come across as microaggressions, transition into a dialogue about inclusive language and its history, and finish with learning how to address divisive interactions by replacing them with healthier communication practices.
